The Faculty of Applied Ecology, Agricultural Sciences and Biotechnology at Blæstad campus has about 210 students and 12 employees.
It is INN University`s smallest campus and it is known for the close contact between students and teachers.
Blæstad is situated right outside the regional town Hamar, in an area dominated by farmland and has a long tradition of education in agricultural sciences dating back to 1923.
The campus itself is located in a former farm and its location makes it the perfect place to study agricultural sciences!
It is currently the only place in Norway offering Bachelor degrees in agronomy and agricultural engineering and an English-taught Master in Sustainable Agriculture.
At Blæstad students get a unique hands-on experience in the field and in the lab, and the opportunity to participate in excursions throughout the year, which perfectly complements the theoretical knowledge.

About the posision
Department of Agriculture, Faculty of Applied Ecology, Agriculture Sciences and Biotechnology, at INN University invites applications from outstanding candidates for a three-year PhD project, for the period 01.08.2020-31.07.2023.
The candidate will work within a project on plasma treated manure where we examine the effects on agronomic parameters such as yield and plant growth, but also on soil organisms and emission risks. The specific treatment method is new and promising and the project aims to develop a technology for manure treatment that will reduce greenhouse gases emissions without costing yields. INN and NMBU are partners with the company N2 applied. The project leader at INN is Thomas Cottis.
The candidate will be part of the Agriculture and Climate Change research group at INN headed by Svein Øivind Solberg.

Qualifications
Applicants to the PhD position must have a Master’s degree or equivalent higher education qualifications in in plant sciences, soil sciences, microbiology, or another relevant scientific discipline, with the grade of B or better. It is a requirement that the successful applicant is granted admission to the university’s doctoral program in Applied Ecology and Biotechnology.
We appreciate good data analysis skills and some prior experience in field- and lab-work. The candidate must demonstrate good spoken and written English and it is desirable if the candidate can communicate in Norwegian and has a good understanding of agriculture in Norway.
Personal Skills
Ability to work as part of a team and to assume different roles which require collaboration with supervisors, other PhD students, masters students, bachelors students and other collaborators.
The candidate should be able to work independently.
Interest in learning new skills, programs and in thinking about science in new ways.
We are looking for a person with good interpersonal and communication skills and a person that like to work as part of a research team.
Personal suitability for the position will be emphasized.
